Procedure text is a type of text which contains the method or steps to do something. We usually find this type of text on food packaging, drugs, electronic items, food recipes, and others. The purpose of the procedure text is to explain the steps in carrying out a particular activity. Procedure text structure In making a procedure text, there are structures that need to be considered, namely: Goal/aim (goal) Generally in procedure text, the purpose is already stated in the title or headline. For example: How to Make Simple Fried Rice. Materials We can use words such as materials, tools, or ingredients when mentioning what is needed to perform a procedure. If the procedure text is about food or drink, we usually call it "ingredients". Meanwhile, when it comes to equipment or the like, we can use "tools and materials".   A procedure is a piece of text that tells how to do something. Its purpose is to provide instructions for making something, doing something or getting somewhere. Examples of procedure texts include: recipes itineraries instruction manuals directions Constructing a procedure A procedure text usually has three sections. There is an introductory statement or title that gives the aim or goal of the procedure, followed by a list of materials that will be needed to complete the procedure.   Procedure text is a text that explains or helps us how to make or use something. Its social function is to describe how something is completely done through a sequence of steps. The communicative purpose of this text is to describe how something is made through a sequence of actions or steps. There are three generic structures in the procedure text. The first is goals or purposes. The second is the materials or tools. The third and the last are steps or methods. To know the text that we read is a procedure or not is so simple. You can read the title if the title is started with ‘how to make…’ or ‘how to use…’ it can be certainly defined that the text is procedure text. Hallo everybody. In this post I want to discuss about one type of text that must be understood by English learner in Indonesia, that is procedure text. Have you learnt this type of text in your school? I am sure most of students that like English lesson have been familiar with this kind of text, right? Before I explain about this text, I want to ask you, Do you like cooking? Cooking is something that usually we do every day, especially for woman. Cooking can be enjoyable activity if we like it but there are some people lazy to cook or even afraid because they cannot make delicious food. To help them, people who cannot cook can see recipes.
