CHAPTER 5 PART 2 : Passive Voice

Passive voice is a form of sentence where the subject of the sentence receives the action, not performs the action. Unlike active voices which focus on the party performing the action, this form focuses more on a party or object that receives the result of the action.

A passive contruction occurs when you make the object of an action into the subject of a sentence. That is, who ever or whatever is performing the action is not grammatical subject of the sentence.

Here's a sure-fire formula for identifying the passive voice :

Form of  "to be" + past participle = Passive voice

The Example :

- At dinner, six shrimp were eaten by Harry.

- The savannah is roamed by beautiful giraffes.

- The flat tire was changed by Sue.

- A movie is going to be watched by us tonight.
